HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOOR

An easy step by step guide to get the measurements for your new Decoview door

LETS START MEASURING YOUR DECORATIVE SECURITY DOOR WITH OUR STEP BY STEP GUIDE

MEASURING AN EXISTING DOOR

If you are ready to change up to a Decoview Security door and you are replacing from a door that you are happy with the measurements, you can use the existing doors measurements.

Please follow the steps below on how to measure your security screen door to provide us with the correct information.

+

STEP 1.0 – WIDTH

Measure the widths of the screen door from the top, middle and bottom, send us ALL 3 measurements.
*

STEP 2.0 – HEIGHT

Measure from the top to bottom of your screen door from each side left hand and right hand.
~

STEP 3.0 – LOCK HEIGHT

If you want to use the existing lock height that’s fine simply measure to the middle of the existing striker. If you would like to move the striker, please ensure that new striker location starts from either the top or bottom of the old striker to ensure that the new striker plates holes are placed clear of the old striker’s cut-outs.

For the striker location please also ensure that the solid door’s handle is clear of the new Decoview security doors handle.

MEASURING A BRAND NEW SECURITY DOOR

Decoview Doors are 18mm wide so we need a minimum rebate of 19mm, if your door frame doesn’t have a rebate you must attach one, a PVC stop bead or a timber bead 18-20mm will be suitable, you also need to ensure there is another 35mm clearance in front of the solid door behind the security screen.

Door Height: measure width from the top, bottom, and middle of the door frame as shown.

Deduct 10mm from the narrowest height, a bug seal can be attached to make up any gap. ( bug seals can be added at your request )

Please follow the steps below on how to measure your security screen door to provide us with the correct information.

STEP 2.0 – HEIGHT

measure width from the top, bottom, and middle of the door frame as shown.Deduct 10mm from the narrowest height, a bug seal can be attached to make up any gap.

STEP 3.0 – LOCK HEIGHT

Standing outside of the door, keep the man door closed and choose which side you want your lock left or right? We then need to check if the new lock doesn’t obstruct on the solid door handle.Lock above : to ensure you are clear of the door lock when putting the new security door handle above the solid door handle measure from the sill to the top of the existing solid door handle and add at least 125mm this will be new security door handle and tongue height. If you want the lock higher just add more to the measurement. ( this is a great idea to make your lock height higher if you have small children to keep the lock on the security door out of reach.)Lock below : to ensure you are clear of the door lock when putting the new security door handle under the solid door handle measure to handle and deduct at least 70mm measure from the sill to the top of the existing solid door handle this will be new security door handle and tongue height, if you want lower just deduct it further.
